Touching it while it dries is the fastest way to frizz a defined curl. Never brush it dry, and detangle damp with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb, ends first.
Because this texture is steam-set, keep direct heat low and infrequent. A light mousse holds the bounce without crunch; heavy oils and butters drag the curl loose and flatten the volume you bought it for. Store loosely braided in a satin bag between installs so the pattern holds.

Length & Fit
A defined curl wears roughly 30% to 35% shorter than its measured length because the curl coils up. A 24" bundle will sit closer to 16" to 17" on you. That is the curl doing its job, not a short bundle, and it is the single most common thing women get wrong when ordering this texture.
The rule of thumb: order two sizes up from your finished length. Mid-back finished means 26" to 28", not 20". For a full head, plan on four to six bundles depending on your density and how full you want it, and lean higher, since volume is the whole reason to choose this texture. Confirm the count with your stylist before you order, since every braider works differently.
